About Appleton, King & Related Families
My ancestors were simple, hard working folk from Great Britain who immigrated to
Canada. Coal mining is a common theme in my ancestry with miners from 5 of my 8
great grandparent lines from England, Scotland, Wales, USA and Canada. I know of at
least two deaths from mining accidents and others who were injured in explosions.
Pioneering is another theme in my family history. The other great grandparent lines
represent mostly farmers who came to Upper Canada long before Confederation and to
Alberta before it joined the new country of Canada. Some were Mormon Pioneers who
moved west with those caravans, walking most of the way.
The information on this site is a result of 30 + years of personal research,
beginning with a search for information about my own grandparents and their immediate
families. The lines of Hall and Evans contain the research of another family
member. Much of the early Appleton line has been contributed by someone else as
well.
I have delayed putting my tree online, waiting until it was more perfect and
complete. I acknowledge that it is not perfect, and will never be complete.
However, I enjoy the association with 'internet cousins' I have discovered along the
way, as well as the information we have shared. Thus it's time to plant my own
family tree online.
